This is what I get for not doing any research and just leaping in because nobody told me there would so much um..nakedness. I would have thought my friends would have clued me in but nope. Nothing. Not a peep.
First a little background before I get to that near miss on total embarrassment.
I am all about adventure. Call it YOLO or maybe I’m just bit a teensy bit nuts but I do love trying most things.
There are a few things I won’t do, like bungee jumping. That scares the life out of me. Even if I did it I wouldn’t be the first one because how in the world do I know if they didn’t make the rope too long and instead of bouncing up just shy of the ground you end up being the ground.
No thank-you.
As much as I like trying new things I am also lousy at research. When we went to Italy I just knew I had to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I even got us tickets only to find out it was about 2 hours away from where we were staying. It all worked out and it was great but just an example of my spontaneity.
Sometimes my lack of research ends up in a really nice surprise.
When we went to Portugal last year we made plans to drive to Fatima, and Nazare. Once again I did no research on Fatima and expected it to be just a little hut in the middle of a field where Mary appeared to the three young children.
Not even close and yet it was great because it took our breath away. So gorgeous and spiritual and just amazing. If I had looked at photos beforehand I might not have been so mesmerized.

Fatima..far better than the little hut I imagined
So what does this have to do with nakedness? Just writing this after talking about Fatima seems a little inappropriate but I will carry on.
So many years ago I did a women’s retreat in Napa Valley. It was great. We stayed at this lovely home and it had this fun outside shower that I just had to try ( I was the only one) It was chilly there in October but so glad I did.

A chilly but fun shower outside!
After the retreat we all headed north to a different place which was, I believe, a health resort of sorts. We were celebrating the birthday of one of the gals and this place was known for facials, massages and mud baths. Mud baths …I’m in.
I was hoping some of the others would join in as well. I imagined us in the mud bath, drinking wine ( I mean it was Napa) laughing and having a good old time.
Nobody did it with me.
And I am SOOOO glad I knew no one when I did take my mud bath.
This is when the research could have come in handy or at least a forewarning from someone who had done it.
I honestly don’t remember all the exact details but I do remember going in and removing ALL my clothes and putting on the provided robe.
Then I was taken to an open room with a line of bathtubs filled with mud. I took off my robe and walked a loong distance or so it seemed, naked to my assigned bathtub.

My first and last mud bath
This theme of nakedness continued through out my experience and I was sooooo grateful none of my friends had joined me. I mean I like my friends, and I am not an overly modest person but there are some things you just don’t want to see or be seen by others!!
Out of the bath, and I was either hosed off or had a shower, then into the sauna and then a cucumber bath with clear water and that robe was around but not on me or anyone else for that matter.
Aside from that it was a lovely experience ( she says knowing it will never happen again)
You would think I would learn from this but nope.
I am obviously a slow learned because I continue to jump into things, do no research and hope for the best.
Recently we were in Hot Springs, Virginia with the natural warm springs mineral pools. Of course I am in. I mean why not. I signed up for a session and couldn’t wait for the experience. Fortunately, Paul, the ever vigilant hubby took a look at my registration and said ” Did you really look at this?” I said ” Of Course I did” with a smug look on my face. He had opted out of the experience. The look on his face, it was more of smirk made me look again. I had signed up for the co-ed session and in parentheses it said ” bathing suits optional”!
OOPS
That got changed rather quickly and it’s a good thing because that water, while lovely, was clear as a bell and once again no robes in sight had one opted to skinny dip.
My session was great, relaxing and everyone had on a swimsuit. Phew
Good thing I have someone looking out for me, 🙂
I am learning, sort of. Makes life exciting.
Stay tuned for more tips on how to do spontaneous adventures, clothes and robes required!!!
As Always…Keep Triing,
Jennifer

Shout out to my hubby who tolerates my very messy self ( he is not) and all of my endeavors: writing, painting, crocheting, photography, and scrapbooking. No looking in closets where I hide the evidence.
I was published in the book ” So God Made a Mother” ( you can order it here)and I also recently I have a quote in the beautiful companion journal “So God Made a Mother’s Story and I am working on a yet to be named novel.
Just making sure the comments work 🙂
One more check to see if this is working
